Days walked: -2
Weather: Cloudy, cool then sunshine!
Mood: Sleep deprived but happy
Life lesson: Citronella-scented shampoo is a mistake
Three days in Bilbao, Spain, recovering from our 34 hour journey from Australia. It has been refreshing and energising as we make our final preparations - and question our packing choices. One of the highlights has been the local delicacy - Pintxo (pron: pinchos) - small dishes bursting with flavour - which, like the city, have left us pinching ourselves.
Sizzle, cackle, oh my! Eyes wide, mouth wider,
gaping like a young child.
Wonderment abound, punches of flavour,
smack me in the mouth, and heart.
Nostrils tickled by specks of sea salt floating in the air and zesty tomatoes.
Giggles rise up unconsciously, until they burst out loud.
Like a burp. Refreshing explosion. Revulsion.
New sounds like a new rythym to life.
All the senses have been invaided and they rejoice. Surrender with delight.
Life consistent, reminiscent, is anew.
Fresh trumps fatigue.
Memories are deleted instanteously in an explosion of taste, culture. Wonderment abound.
Louder, brighter, sweeter, sharper. Like a camera lens being brought into focus, in stark relief.
