Life Lesson: Look after yourself
Today was a well-deserved rest day in the beautiful city of Burgos. Unfortunately I dropped the ball and got my first two feet blisters because I forgot about my feet in my excitement. A day spent sightseeing and catching up on chores - supplies shopping, washing, post, emails. And for me - off my feet in a spa! We caught up with some pilgrims we had met earlier in our travels, and farewelled others.
A grand stone cathedral commands the centre of town,
But it's not my beacon.
I seek solace in a familiar warm cocoon, albeit in a foreign place.
Gentle music pervades my soul,
As I drift away.
Cool creams rubbed on weary toes, cracked lips and sunburned nose,
A warm compress, and thicker coat that enlivens my skin.
Serenity. Bliss. Rejuvenated.
Ready to tackle a new day.
I open the door and step back on My Way.
Later in the hotel, baptism in a deep- set hot bath.
Steam caresses my face,
as tired muscles are unlocked and reset.
Fluffy white towels.
I am new again.
