Days walked: 7
Kilometers walked: 138
Kilometers to Santiago: 637
Injuries: same as yesterday just worse
Weather: The sun is out! (But cold)
Collective mood: mixed (I'm relaxed and content)
Life lesson: It's important to look after yourself
Today was much brighter. I felt a million times improved after a good night's sleep. A couple of us decided to send our packs on separately to give our injuries time to heal without the added weight. It was the right decision. We actually enjoyed the walk in the sunshine, through rolling hills and ancient hillside towns. The highlight was the wine fountain, which spurts red wine for weary pilgrims - it's a pity we passed through in the early morning!
I feel free. Light with energy.
Step by step to the rhythm of easy conversation.
Free to walk an individual's pace - striving ahead or meandering behind.
Free to play at a fountain that spurts wine.
Unburdened by the weight of a pack, delivered ahead to the door of a family rest stop,
Free to wander and laugh through lush green countryside.
Rolling hills, crunchy bread, a steady path.
No strict routine but a journey plotted, and prodded.
Time allowed for understanding its beauty.
Understanding that freedom is accepting loss so it can find its way back to you.
Freedom to care for yourself without guilt or judgement.
