We had a long but relatively easy walk from old Pamplona to Puente la Reina, arriving late afternoon. The dark clouds have travelled with us, threatening rain all day. It was particularly cold at the top of the El Perdon mountain, 770m above sea level.
Thank you to my feet for bringing me this far,
through a Vincent Van Gough painting, brought to life by birdsong.
Mosaic white paths surrounded by swaying greens and distant blues.
And dotted with picturesque hamlets.
Thank you to my feet. You've brought me here and there,
without too much protest;
The odd yelp and growing sharp opposition to this extraordinary task, dulled by music and forgiven wholly by singing.
I feel good, da nah nah, my voice channels James Brown.
Then when I remember to turn around I see how far you have brought me and I'm amazed.
